Skyros – Getaway to a Greek Island

Beach at Skyros

I am so glad that I followed my gut and took the chance amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic to sign up for a two-week writing holiday on the Greek Island of Skyros. This nearly three-week vacation was my first in over two and a half years. My heart sang with the joy of travel (despite airport chaos) and the chance to experience new places and meet interesting people.

Read all about it here. Note that you can get more information and pictures by following the underlined links in the text. If you like what you read, please share this post. I also invite you to subscribe (on www.trinisue.com) to my blog for automatic receipt of emails with my future postings. I write about the good things of Trinidad & Tobago, my travels, my writings, and more recently, a chronicle of the Coronavirus pandemic in T&T.

Here are some photos from my trip that are not in my main write up.

Luckily, there were no COVID cases on the island while I was there, and none of the course participants brought the virus with them. It was a relief not to have to wear masks during the holiday, though I was one of the few that did while in the crowded airports and on planes. I was also very fortunate to not experience any cancellations or significant delays on my flights through Amsterdam and Athens. I also never lost my luggage, something I have a lot of experience with. Some of my course-mates were not so lucky.
