Another year passes and a new one begins with hopes of being a better person and realising a few dreams and keeping to any new year resolutions. I’m going to try to not take on worries or perceived hurts, and exude love and compassion. What will be, will be! My plan is to continue writing and to get back to painting, and travel as much as possible!
I have noticed that Trinis are tending to stay home on Old Years Night (New Years Eve) or are just going to house limes. Perhaps people are far more conscious of the drinking and driving laws, or maybe they are wary of the high cost of organised New Years Eve parties in these difficult times. I know those with animals want to comfort their pets when the fireworks start. Anyway, however you chose to bring in the new year, I hope you have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2019.
I saw in the New Year with family and some friends at our family home which has a spectacular view of the Maraval valley. Usually there are fireworks all evening on Old Years Night but it was surprisingly quiet, until midnight that is. Then the sky was filled with sparkling bursts and red flares, some coming from the other side of the hills. We could see a good display coming from the heights of Paramin. Everyone hugged each other and blessed the new year with champagne. It was a lovely evening. Now to get down to actioning those resolutions!
Happy New Year to you and your family Sue. May your 2019 hopes and resolutions all come true.
Happy New Year Susan.
Always good to read positive words
